Press Release Summary = Foundation Established to Raise Consciousness About Inflammatory Breast Cancer
Press Release Body = San Jose, CA - April 4, 2007 - In honor of his late wife, Steve Gorman has established The Elaine Anestos Gorman Foundation to raise consciousness about Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC), a very aggressive and little known form of breast cancer that is on the rise.
Gorman, founder of Alternative Health Insurance Services, believes that simply making more people aware of IBC will save lives. The Foundation has established a website at www.RememberElaine.org to provide the public with information about IBC.
"Right now, the site contains some very basic information that every woman should know" says Gorman. "We will be adding more content to the website as the Foundation expands."
IBC is an advanced and accelerated form of breast cancer usually not detected by mammograms or ultrasounds. Some women who have inflammatory breast cancer may remain undiagnosed for long periods, even while seeing their doctor to learn the cause of their symptoms. The symptoms are similar to mastitis, a breast infection and some doctors, not recognizing IBC, will prescribe antibiotics. If a response to antibiotics is not apparent after a week, a biopsy should be performed or a referral to a breast specialist is warranted. Gorman's wife, Elaine, passed away in August 2006 after battling IBC for close to three years. "Elaine would be proud of the work we are doing in her name and I know she would be pleased that people will be helped by the Foundation" said Gorman.
The Foundation is a tax exempt organization under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to the Foundation are deductible under section 170 of the code.
